BUT WE NEED TO ADHERE TO SOME NEW RULES
With the welcome announcement by Boris Johnson yesterday, tattoo and body piercing studios are legally allowed to reopen from Monday 13th July. However, there are still many restrictions in place. So how does this affect Pierce of Art and you, our client?
The very nature of the services Pierce of Art Tattoo & Piercing studio provide, social distancing cannot be avoided. We all know it is impossible to perform a tattoo or body piercing while remaining 2 meters away.
There are measures we must legally put in place and further precautions that can be used to ensure both yourself and our staff remain safe throughout the treatment.
Unfortunately, clients are no longer allowed to simply walk into a studio and request a tattoo or body piercing as we used to do, and Pierce of Art are not exempt from this rule. To ensure the number of people in the studio at any one time is kept to a minimum, all tattoo and piercing services must be pre-booked.

Pierce of Art is already recognised as a best practice studio and have the highest level of health and safety level available, by following universal precautions as a standard, we also have infrared non-touch taps, wipeable floors and walls, and highly trained staff to help us achieve this. But we do not stop there. In addition to the usual PPE our tattooists and piercers wear (clean fresh disposable gloves, disposable aprons, etc etc), our staff will always be wearing a clean fresh disposable mouth and nose mask containing a carbon filter with the addition of a full-face shield when performing a service along with disposable arm covers to minimise skin to skin contact. Each tattoo and piercing station is cleaned down before and after every client with medical-grade Tri-Gene disinfectant.
Government guidelines also require clients to be wearing a mouth and nose mask containing a carbon filter when in the studio. Complimentary hand sanitiser is also provided at the main entrance and within the studio on the reception desk and is clearly identified with signage.
Should you require a mouth and nose mask, they can be purchased in store or online HERE
To help keep you, our valued customer safe, we have erected transparent dividers between the tattoo stations, to help stop the spread of Covid-19 infection (should any be present) between you and the neighbouring client via sneezing and coughing droplets.
Currently, there are still some service restrictions in place for tattooing and body piercing studios.
Tattoo and piercing studios throughout the UK are not permitted to perform treatments on the facial area. This includes oral piercings, cheek piercings, nose piercings, eyebrow piercings, changing jewellery on these areas, face tattoos, lip tattoos, and microblading or eyebrow tattoos. Ear piercings ARE allowed as long it does not require the removal of your mouth and nose mask. We will of course update you when this guideline changes.
Our consent forms have also been updated so please ensure you read them carefully before completing and signing. This was at the request of Chesterfield Borough Council.
Furthermore, clients will not be allowed to bring along a companion for ‘moral support’. The only exception for this is for a parental signature if under the age of 16 for a body piercing and disability support. If you are over the age of 16 years old, please bring your ID.
